Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku |

Developer: Webfoot Technologies This game has hidden development-related text. |
Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku is Webfoot's first foray into the Dragon Ball series, which did not go as well as expected. However, it was one of the first GBA games to have full-motion video. It later got a rerelease as part of a double pack with Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II. The poor reputation of the series that this game got might be the reason that Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury is not called Legacy of Goku III.

Dragon Ball Z Legacy Of Goku Walkthrough Part 1
Repair Kit
Various text strings refer to this item as a 'Repair Kit'. Editing address 03000062 (USA version) will add this item to your inventory, although you cannot use it.
Item name at 1C62D3 (USA version) | Repair Kit |
Item plural name at 1C62DE (USA version) | Repair Kits |
Item receive text at 5C30F7 (USA version) | You receive a repair kit! |
Alternate Stones
A side quest has Goku gathering stones to build a bridge, but since there are six stones and you need only three these go unused and can never be collected. Each stone has a unique graphic but acts like every other kind of stone item.
Fruit
You can edit address 03000060 (USA version) to give yourself a Fruit item, although you cannot use it. Perhaps you were once supposed to select Yemma's Fruit through your inventory.
Unused NPC text
Throughout the game, you have to escort NPCs as part of tasks that you are given. If you are escorting one NPC and try to escort another, they will tell you to come back later. Since it isn't possible to bring an NPC along and then talk to the missing kid in the forest, his text goes unused.
Error Messages
A sequence of error message strings can be found in the ROM at 12142 (USA version) or 122F4 (European version).
Unused Splash Screens
These are splash screens that have gone unused. They can be accessed using the game's debug menu.

Invincibility Code
There is a hidden invincibility code. To activate it, press Up, Down, Left, Right, B and A during the intro movie. The invincibility will not work when walking over spikes of the Snake Way.

Regional Differences
There are two versions of the game: US and European. On the latter, you can select a different language besides English (German, French, Italian, Spanish).
The European version also fixed a crash that can happen when going to the title screen's options menu, highlighting 'Exit' and then pressing A + B at the same time. A similar crash that happens in the debug menu when 'Go to Map' is highlighted and pressing A+Start was not fixed, however.
The European version fixed that you could essentially turn invincible when hit by a ki blast in flying mode. In the US version, the ki blast would hit you and you would exit flying mode although the game believes you are still flying - thus enemies don't attack you but you can attack them. In the European version ki blasts don't hit you at all when flying.
Anti-Piracy
If the game detects you are running it on a cartridge with the incorrect save type or hardware, it will display the following message.

Chapter 1: The Legacy of Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr.
The rustling of trees interrupts the calm mellow sound of the forest. A hunt is going on. A hunt that has a predator and a prey. The onlyproblem is that the predator and prey are the same being.
They are a being that is known as a Saiyan. They are two Saiyanwarriors in training. Two Saiyan warriors that are named after the twogreatest warriors in the universe. Their names are Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr.
Vegeta Jr. is the son of Gobra who is the son of Goten. Goten is theson of Goku. Goku Jr. is the son of Tran who is the son of Trunks. Trunksis the son of Vegeta.
As the two tremendous powers exit the forest they come upon a hugelake. When they reach the lake, they begin their training.
Even as children, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. loved to fight. Their goalin life was to become stronger. And as all Saiyans do, they becamestronger.
Goku Jr.'s grandmother Pan who is Vegeta Jr.'s great aunt was bornwith a power level of 5,000,000. Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. were born with apower level of 7,500,000.
When they were 8, with Goku Jr. being the oldest by a month, theywere entered into a World Tournament. Their powers were evenly matcheduntil Goku Jr. became Super Saiyan 2. Even Trunks and Goten were amazedthat Goku Jr. could become Super Saiyan 2 at such a young age. And on topof that Goku Jr. is only 1/16 Saiyan! And even on top that Vegeta Jr. alsobecame Super Saiyan 2 a day later and he is also only 1/16 Saiyan.
As for Pan she died at the age of 110. Master Roshi, Chi-Chi, Bulma,Ox King, Bra Videl, Hercule, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzou, 18, Krillin, andMarron along with Korrin and Yajirobe have also died. Mr. Popo and Dendehave been kept alive so Dende can be the protector of Earth. Mr. Popo isjust there for doing chores and amusement.
Now all that's left are 8 Saiyans and 1 Namek. These 9 warriors areknown as the New Blood Force. It's been 150 years since there has been athreat on Earth. Plus Goku has been gone for a long time too. The lasttime he was seen was at a World Tournament when Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr.were 8. Now though, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. are on a legacy. A legacy tounlock all the secrets of the Saiyan.
They have already found out that once a Saiyan becomes Super Saiyan, their life spans increase. Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Goten, Tran, and Gobrahave also figured out how to willingly grow their Saiyan tails back. Thisway it is easier to become Super Saiyan 4.
Meanwhile, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. are training to become SuperSaiyan 4. The only problem is that they don't have the device to growtheir tails. So now its up to them to figure out how to grow their tailsback so they can become Super Saiyan 4.
